Your Privacy Choices

We do not sell or share your data for advertising

There is nothing to opt out of: Area Watcher does not sell personal data, does not share it for targeted advertising, and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking software. How we may use de-identified search paths to improve the app is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Choose who sees your search paths

Nothing you record is shared until you turn sharing on.

In the app: Settings → Privacy → My Privacy.

• Share My Search Paths: off by default. Turn it on to let Search Lead and Command subscribers see your paths; turn it off again at any time.
• Share My Search Paths After: how long after a path ends it can appear to others, from immediately to one month (one day by default).
• Show My Profile to Other Users: off by default. Turn it on to show your display name with your shared paths.

Keep private places private

In the app: Settings → Privacy → Privacy Zones. Mark home, work, family or friends' places. Paths are cut short near them on your phone before upload, and the places never leave your phone.

Location permission

Area Watcher needs location access to record searches. Change it at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Area Watcher. Without it the app cannot record paths.

See, correct or download your data

Your profile and settings are visible and editable in the app. For a copy of all the data we hold about you, or any other privacy request, email support@areawatcher.com from the address on your account. We respond within 45 days, usually much sooner. If we decline a request, reply with "Appeal" and we will review it within 60 days.

Delete your account and data

In the app: Settings → Account → Sign-in & Security → Delete account. This immediately deletes your profile, settings, search paths and location from our servers, and then your sign-in. Backups that may still contain them expire within 14 days.

Deleting your account does not cancel your App Store subscription: cancel it in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions. If you cannot use the app, email support@areawatcher.com from the address on your account and we will delete it for you.
